I remember seeing an interview of Coach of Pat Riley, on ESPN talking about a text he often sends to one of his star players, Dwyane Wade (DWade). The text? “B.I.W.” What does it mean? “Best In the World.”
How awesome is that? When you talk, think and have expectations like that, how could Pat Riley fail? Fail to pull off the free agency coup of the century? It’s not gonna happen. Here’s the video of Coach Riley talking about his texting with Dwyane Wade:
I listened to what DWade said during the 2010 NBA free agency. How he wanted to win multiple championships. Lebron James and Chris Bosh were all saying the same things about multiple championships.
The owner of the Cleveland Cavilers was pulling at Lebron’s heart strings to what seemed like to me, he was trying to guilt Lebron into staying. They made expensive videos involving tv characters they knew Lebron liked. Sure they offered money and promises of surrounding him with better players.
Pat Riley had also said how you can’t win Championships in the NBA today with just a duo of great players surrounded by other role players the way he did with Shaq and Wade in 2006. Coach Riley pulled off this free agency coup because he has the heart and mind of a champion. He thinks in terms of possibilities, not limitations. I was not surprised when all three decided to sign in Miami.
When people ask me about what I do, I tell them “I am the best in the world at what I do.” There is nobody else on the planet that can do what I do in the way that I do it. I am unique. You know what? So are you! “You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there.” – Venus Williams. “Faith is believing in what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believed.” – St. Augustine.
I would like you to contemplate on a few things. Write down your answers if you are really serious about making your greatest dreams a reality:
1) What would you do if you knew you could not fail?
2) What do you really think you should be getting paid?
3) What would you do if you could have any job/career in the world? It would have to be something that you would love so much you would do it for free if money were no object.
4) Think about some things you would love to have in your life in the future (houses, cars, watches, travel, etc.). I’m talking about the types of things that if one day you actually had them you would pinch yourself because it would just be too goo to be true? Its ok to dream big and be a little ridiculous and audacious.
“Life takes on meaning when you become motivated, set goals and charge after them in an unstoppable manner.” ~ Les Brown. That’s pretty powerful! Before you set your goals. You must choose something compelling. The type of audacious goals that get you so excited that you get up early in the morning and stay up late at night.
Why? On your way to pursuing your goals, you will run into many obstacles and challenges that will make you question your goals. If you have picked something that feels true in your heart and compelling to you, you will find it within you to persevere and keep soldiering on when you feel like quitting. Inch by inch, millimeter by millimeter sometimes. Persist WITHOUT EXCEPTION and one day your greatest dreams will be a reality.
“There is no passion to be found in playing small – in settling for a life that is less than what you are capable of living.” ~ Nelson Mandela
